Hi, I’m Ajmal.

I write software in Kochi, India. I started making web and mobile apps while I was in college, and I’ve kept finding new things to build since.

These days, it’s Rust and sensor data at work, and Menophine, my desktop database app, on my own time. This site is a place to write about what I’m making and what I’m still figuring out.

How I got here

  1. 2018–2020

    Making apps between classes

I started freelancing while studying at MES College Marampally, building web and mobile apps with React and Flutter. One of those projects was utube.link, a tool for opening YouTube links in the app. It went on to reach over 100,000 people a month.

  2. 2021–2022

A CAD editor in the browser

I co-founded Kaimly, where we built a browser-based CAD editor and got the first version out in three months. Alongside writing code, I helped bring together the developers and designers working on it. We also built a delivery platform called Doodhman.

  3. 2022–2023

    Working on online safety

At Coinedone, I worked on parental-control tools, from Android and Flutter apps to the Node.js and Go services behind them. The work covered things like location tracking and spotting potentially harmful content on social media.

  4. 2023–2024

    Getting payments to work together

Next came Paycepaid, where I worked remotely with an Australian team. Most of my work sat behind the payment screen: connecting banks, setting up recurring payments, and making one login work across several apps.

  5. 2024–now

    .NET, Rust, and telemetry data

These days I’m at NOV, where a lot of my work starts with data coming off oilfield equipment. I built a Rust application to process it and interfaces that can plot millions of readings. On the backend, I work with .NET, gRPC, and Kafka, plus SignalR for live collaboration. There’s visual work too: 3D equipment views and maps for tracking containers and trucks. I also help untangle production issues and keep these systems running over long stretches—including bringing one app’s memory use from over 10 GB down to around 500 MB.

A work in progress: building a robot to tidy my desk.
